Most of us either avoid Revelation or over-read it. We treat it as a code to be decoded, or we skip past it because the imagery unsettles us. But Revelation was written for tired, pressured, frightened churches at the end of the first century, and it opens with the risen Christ saying, “Do not be afraid.” While it was written TO them, it’s also FOR us. We will walk together through the book, in depth but not every detail. The goal is not trying to decode all the symbols, but as a church needing what Revelation was originally sent to give: a fresh vision of Jesus, an unshakable confidence in His throne, and a real hope for the world we live in and the world He is remaking. By the time we reach Advent, we might just find a new appreciation for the baby in the manger.
