Chap Clark (PhD, University of Denver) is the lead pastor at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, CA. Until March 2018, Chap served as chair of the Christian Discipleship department and professor of Practical Theology and Youth, Family, and Culture at Fuller Theological Seminary. In addition, for seven years Chap was also Vice Provost at Fuller in charge of regional campuses and strategic initiatives. He has been the senior editor of YouthWorker Journal, a contributor to Sojourner and “Red Letter Communicator,” and is currently president of ParenTeen™, a nonprofit organization helping adults understand and respond to the developmental and spiritual needs of adolescents and emerging adults. Chap is a professional speaker, trainer, consultant, as well as the author or co-author of 25 books, including the award-winning Hurt 2.0: Inside the World of Today’s Teenagers, Sticky Faith, Deep Justice in a Broken World, and Adoptive Church: Creating an Environment Where Emerging Generations Belong.
Before teaching, Chap was on Young Life staff for 15 years as an area and regional director; and for the last 27 years while a seminary professor, Chap has served in a variety of roles in the church and as a consulting producer for a reality television production company. Chap and Dee, an LMFT, have three grown children, and three granddaughters. They currently live in Newport Beach, CA and get away to Gig Harbor, WA when they can.
Executive Director of the St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute
Dana Ayoob joined the St. Andrew’s community in 2020 to serve as Executive Director of the St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute (SALI) program. She earned a BA in psychology from the University of Washington and is currently pursuing graduate education at Fuller Theological Seminary. After five years of working with college students through Young Life, she is excited to continue developing and discipling young people as current and future leaders in the church. Dana and her fiancé Nick enjoy hiking, surfing, and reading.
Coordinator of the St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute
Joan Coleman is the Coordinator of the St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute (SALI) program. She earned a BS and MBA from UCLA. After 27 years working as the business manager at Harbor Day School, she retired and joined the SALI team. She is the co-founder of Asante Sana, a non-profit serving the needs of vulnerable children in Tanzania. Joan and her husband Mark have three children and five grandchildren. They have attended St. Andrew’s for over 50 years.
Rick Afable has been a member of St. Andrew’s for over 13 years. He is an Elder in the Presbyterian Ministry and has participated in many activities over the years, including Young Life, healthcare services, and local and international missions. Rick is a medical doctor by training, having practiced medicine for almost 20 years. He also is the retired CEO of Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital. Rick is married to Sally Afable, a longtime leader and instructor of Christian ministries, a past Session member at St. Andrew’s, and frequent bible study instructor in Women’s Ministries. Rick and Sally have 2 grandchildren and a faithful golden retriever named Wrigley.
Jeff Beck was born in Chicago and has lived in almost all regions of the U.S. He began work as a city planner in Baltimore, MD and moved to Florida after law school. He became one of the leading bankruptcy attorneys and trustees in the country and has managed the sale, rehabilitation, or liquidation of a number of substantial private and public companies. Over his career, he served as a board member, chair, and/or president of multiple professional and civic organizations. He and his wife, Marilyn have been married for 18 years and spend their time between Corona del Mar and Boca Raton, FL. They joined St. Andrew’s in 2015.
Marilyn Beck is a southern California native. She studied and worked in the U.S. and Europe, founding a consulting business for foreign executives in France. Marilyn also oversees her family’s trust fund set up to provide scholarships for seminary students. Established in 1985, over 50 students to date have benefitted from this, including students from St. Andrew’s. Marilyn and her husband Jeff have two adult children and two grandchildren.
Glenn Ormseth is a retired Aerospace Engineer with over 40 years experience in mission critical programs for the U. S. Government, including the Apollo moon mission, satellite programs, and strategic
Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) systems. As a Program Director, he led the development and testing of a $1.2 billion asset for National Missile Defense. Glenn and his wife Linda were founding members of Irvine Presbyterian Church (IPC) as a church plant in 1976. He was ordained as an elder the following year and has served in numerous leadership capacities at IPC and now at St. Andrew’s as he continues to grow in the Lord.
Anita Sherbanee has spent her professional career as a licensed attorney and registered nurse specializing in medical-legal litigation since 1988. She and her husband have owned their own business, The Turnip Rose and Elite Catering for over 40 years. She also holds a Master’s in Theology from Fuller Seminary and is an ordained ruling elder within the ECO denomination. She has served in many leadership capacities including President of the Board of Trustees at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, CA. She and her husband live in Costa Mesa, CA and have a shared passion for international travel.
