SACI Contemporary Dance (4th–8th)

Thursdays, January 29–April 30 | Showcase May 3
from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
No class Feb. 19 and April 9

This class introduces students to the fundamentals of contemporary and lyrical dance in a supportive, age-appropriate environment. Dancers will explore fluid and expressive movement, basic turns, leaps, and proper body alignment while developing strength, flexibility, technique, and musicality.

Through exercises and choreography, students connect movement with emotion, learn to tell stories through dance, improve coordination, and develop performance skills and musicality. This class focuses on both dance technique and acting expression, building a solid foundation for future contemporary dance study.

Students enrolled in this class will have the opportunity to perform in the SACI Showcase, as well as church and community events!

Shoes: half sole/pirouette shoes or jazz or ballet shoes. Some of class will be barefoot.

Teaching Artist: Morgan Parkyn
